I know I’m a little behind on the times blogging about the People Choice Awards, seeing how the Golden Globes and Screen Actor's Guild Awards have come and gone, but what’s a busy podiatrist supposed to do? I do love researching new trends on the red carpet. Obviously the biggest fashion surprise this year was Naya Rivera’s new blonde hair, which in my opinion looked better dark. But, besides the gorgeous gowns and amazing awards, I noticed 3 major nail trends from celebs at the 2014 People’s Choice Awards (via Glamour Magazine):
1. Metallic Nail Polish
Sarah Michelle Gellar was one of many to opt for metallic and/or glitter nail polish, in an interesting return to shiny-shiny manicures.
2. Dark Nail Polish
Dark-dark nails are a continuing winter staple, and they were definitely a major presence last night. Jennifer Hudson went black and jewel-encrusted.
Jessica Alba chose deep green as a gorgeous new twist. Some of my favorite Dr.’s Remedy dark shades include Noble Navy, a sea-at-dusk shade that reflects light and brings dimension, and Balance Brick Red, a deep modern maroon.
3. Almost-White Nail Polish
Cheryl Burke was just one of many who opted for neutral, whitish-nude nail polish. This trend is such a chic and clean manicure look for winter, a great compliment to the snow and ice. My go to winter shade was Nurture Nude Pink, a barely there beautiful hue with just a hint of iridescence.
Nurture Nude WAS my favorite until Dr.’s Remedy introduced Sincere Snow- you can just tell it’s perfect for the season by the name! It offers a dusting of winter white with a shot of shine. The best thing about Sincere Snow is that it is actually sheer enough you can layer it over ANY color to create a whole new look! It adds so much shine and dimension, like a radiating diamond.
