Our blog, Inserts are Like Cars!?, shed light on the difference between over the counter inserts, medical grade inserts, and custom orthotics. Well, now that you know the difference and how the inserts relate to car classes, did you know that they need maintenance just like your vehicle? You travel an average of 10,000 steps per day – and just like your car needs an oil change every 3,000 miles – your orthotics may need an occasional tune up too!
Reasons why your orthotics need maintenance:
- Weight Change – as your weight fluctuates, so does how you wear your orthotics. They may no longer support the way they used to because your pressure points are different. Remember – your feet support your entire body!
- Activity Change – did you make a New Year’s resolution to be more active this year? Are you keeping that resolution? Your orthotics may have “fallen” a bit due to the recent increase in use. A quick reheating in the office will help to get the support back to where it originally was.
- General Wear and Tear – do your orthotics look like they have been through a train wreck? While they are still fully functional, it may be time for a tune up. For $50, we can send them off to have the top cover recovered so they look like new!
