Color Theory and Your Nails

Comments (0)

As a nail technician, I love color! Painting different colored nails is one of my favorite things. I love that everyone has the opportunity to be unique and choose a fun nail polish they love during a spa service. There are many types of colors and they are formed in a variety of ways. Primary, Secondary, and Complementary colors are just a few that I am going to discuss in this blog.

The primary colors are yellow, blue and red. You may mix primary colors together to make other colors. For example, when you mix blue and yellow together, it will create green.

Secondary colors include green, purple and orange Secondary colors are formed when two primary colors are blended together. For example when you mix red and yellow together, they create the color orange.

Complementary colors are those that are opposite to each other on the color wheel. Come complements are red and green, blue and orange, or yellow and violet. In other words these colors look great together.

The color wheel above can come in handy when you get your hair colored at the salon, when you decorate your home, and of course, when you pick out your nail polish.

Colors can say a lot about you. The color you pick for your nails can reflect your mood or even your personality. Blue is great for a calm, serene time in your life while red is fun for being flirty and truly standing out of a crowd!
