Heel Fissures - What Can I Do?

Comments (0)

Heel Fissures

I have seen a TON of patients with painful, cracked, bleeding heels in the past few months with the brutal temperatures this winter.  Fortunately, this is a common problem and is easily treated with conservative measures.

First and foremost, we need to get moisture BACK into the skin.  I recommend Kera-42 Cream which is a water based cream with 42% urea in it to allow for deep penetration and moisturizing of those painful heels.  This cream needs to be applied daily to minimize heel fissures.

Secondly, exfoliation of the dead thick skin around the fissures must be performed.  Ideally this is done daily as well where you use our exclusive Gilden Tree Foot Scrubber (terra cotta and won’t wear down!) across the area 3-4 times while in the shower.  By performing this critical task daily, you won’t have to scrub as much!

Finally, we offer our gel heel cushions to be used in conjunction with our healing cream for a deeper penetration into that hard calloused skin of your heels.  You can even use these cushions under your socks and shoes for added comfort!  (Be very careful walking barefoot in them, they are slippery).

Looking for some immediate relief?  Why not schedule a pampering session at Healing Steps Spa!  A pedicure at Healing Steps Spa will jump start the deep moisturizing your skin needs, giving you quicker results and a head start on the road to smooth feet!

Heel fissures are a pain in the – well, heel!  And we’ve got the solutions to get rid of them for you!  For more information, please call our office at 309-661-9975 or stop in to pick up any of these great healing products!
