Some may know her as the biggest T.V. host in decades; she’s glamorous, gorgeous, and fashionable! She has done everything on her talk show from giving money to each of her guests to giving everyone in the audience a brand new car! Guess who? Oprah Winfrey, of course! Some may think she has it all, from amazing hair to killer shoes. However, as I look closer, there are two BIG things that aren’t so gorgeous and probably hurt in those killer shoes she wears. I’m talking about Bunions!
Bunions can affect women, men, and even children. We frequently have patients in the office discussing their bunions. We typically hear, “I have a huge bump on the side of my foot! It hurts a lot, my shoes are tight and most of all its ugly!”
The bump that patients describe actually reflects changes in the bone of the front part of the foot. Once the bunion starts to form, the big toe will push into the second toe, causing pain and pressure not only to the bunion itself but to all other toes as well.
Some symptoms of bunions can include:
· Pain or soreness
· Inflammation and redness
· A burning sensation
· Possible numbness
Treatment of bunions can range from non-invasive observation all the way to corrective surgery. For more information on these sometimes painful, always annoying bunions, please call our office to set up an appointment!
