I love spring – and am always excited to meet with patients who are beginning a new workout or training program outside. But it’s important to remember a few key tips as you head outdoors!
1. Don’t forget to stretch before and after your workout! Before will help loosen up cold muscles and after will keep those same muscles nice and elongated. Stretching is the KEY to avoiding injuries on and off the field of play!
2. Stay hydrated! As weather warms up, we find ourselves outside more and we tend to forget to drink our water! Remember to drink at least 64 oz (8 glasses) of water a day in addition to other beverages.
3. Block out that sun! Don’t forget sunscreen, especially on sensitive areas like your face, neck and even FEET! Prevention is critical in avoiding sun damage!
4. Wear appropriate footwear! Not that I DON’T want to see you, but it’s important to make sure you don’t perform activities barefoot or in unsupportive shoes. To do so would lead to injuries and pain. Check out our great selection of shoes and sandals to keep you moving this spring!
