While the Roaring 20’s brought about prohibition, jazz music, and Art Deco, the fashion development entered the modern era. Goodbye corsets and petticoats and hello flappers! Between Coco Chanel and Marlene Dietrich, femininity and beauty arose for fashion design. The staff at HFAA had the opportunity to play this part recently when we were nominated for the McLean County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Excellence Award at the 2014 McLean County Chamber of Commerce Gala. The theme was 1920’s flapper style, so all the staff headed out to find the right attire.
First stop was finding the perfect style flapper dress. Now we all know the dress and accessories are what made the fashion statement. Once the dresses were acquired, it was off for a headpiece, gloves, and the infamous pearls. And of course before any big event, it’s time for some amazing nail polish and shoes to accent the look. In our office, it’s a no brainer which shoes to choose for this event - Dr. Comfort makes adorable heels that are very 1920’s era! Picking out the nail color was also very easy as Dr’s Remedy makes a Remedy Red which is an old school Hollywood Red. Many of the team members also complimented the outfits with matching red lipstick and finger waves in their hair.
So if you are ever invited to a 1920’s event, just remember HFAA has accessories that will match and having you looking like you stepped out of The Great Gatsby! Call us today at 309.661.9975 or stop by the office to browse our amazing selection of shoes and nail polish that fit in any era!
