As a frequent traveler, I walk- A LOT. With all this walking foot pain could be a big problem. But not for me- I come prepared! As a foot care expert I always pack helpful podiatry products to make my travels more enjoyable, especially if I'm going to be walking a lot. Here's a list of the foot care items I pack to make for happy feet, even after days of walking:
- Shoes- this should be an obvious item. Don't pack heels, dress shoes, or sandals for walking! Shoes should be supportive and well fitted. If you try to twist the shoe, the middle (arch area) should remain firm and not twist. If your shoe contours and twists, it allows your foot to do the same thing and is not providing the necessary support.
- Orthotics- shoes are only half of the equation. You need supportive inserts to help all day comfort. Inserts will be able to support your arch and offload pressure areas such as your heel. Custom inserts, called orthotics, are the best because they change the way you walk by realigning your body.
- Powersteps- if you don't have custom inserts, Powerstep medical grade inserts are the next best thing. Their patented design delivers medical grade comfort and support with a layers of luxurious padding. The heel cup cradles and offloads your heel. It's all topped off an anti-microbial, anti-fungal layer to protect against infections.|
- Socks- obviously never ever wear shoes without socks. Doing so can create painful blisters and leave your feet more prone to fungal infections. We recommend socks with naturally occurring anti fungal properties in them such as copper. The copper naturally repels moisture and sweat and is anti-fungal.
